Anne Miller

Anne Miller was born in Ohio, but calls Columbia home after being here more than 25 years. She is happily married to Mike, a carpooling mother to two wonderful and athletic boys, a school volunteer, active in the community, and deeply committed to her faith and church, St. John’s Episcopal Church. She graduated from Columbia College with a BA as a dance major and psychology minor. Anne has been an ACE and Rebook fitness instructor since 1986. After receiving a yoga certification through Yoga Fit as a way to fulfill continuing education credits for her certifications, she immediately fell in love with yoga! Twelve years later and now a 230-hour Yoga Alliance certified instructor, her love for yoga continues to grow. Anne passionately loves to teach and is honored with each person’s presence in the classes she teaches. Anne does not see yoga as a means of perfecting ones self or physical accomplishment, but a very personal way to journey through life as a healthy, happy, contributing part of the community. As she pursues further studies in this ancient discipline, she looks forward to sharing the path and journey of exploration with many other wonderful yogis.
Yoga + Weights is a 55 minute class that builds on the foundations of traditional yoga asana/posture practice and works with equal amounts of flexibility, strengthen training, core exercise and balance. This class efficiently addresses current and modern day physical challenges and habits by enhancing muscle awareness and developing integrated flexibility. The class stays true to the yoga tradition while encouraging the student to create mental and physical self awareness through the addition of 5 lbs hand weights. The weighted movements challenge the student to be present and completely engaged for the entire class.
