Mat Pilates - Complimentary Class

Jamie Scott is a lifelong fitness advocate with a community-focused approach to health and wellness. Certified by American Fitness Professionals as a Strength Trainer and Nutrition Wellness Consultant, Jamie earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina along with a Masters in Education and Education Specialist Degree from South Carolina State University. He is also an award-winning athlete who played football for the University of South Carolina.

Jamie’s fitness advocacy first began as a nutritional counselor and head strength coach at Hammond School, one of the largest independent schools in the southeast. Working with students K-12, Jamie designed exercise and nutritional programs with his goal of instilling positive habits that would last a lifetime. While working at Hammond, Jamie was approached by east coast commercial real estate developer EDENS to create an in-house fitness and wellness program for its Washington, D.C. office, an initiative that helped launch Jamie Scott Fitness. With continuing education, cutting edge classes and constantly evolving programming, Jamie has turned Jamie Scott Fitness into the most progressive, inspirational and innovative boutique gyms in the region, featuring nutrition counseling, fitness classes, boot camps and personal training.

Maintaining his role as a student wellness coach along with his ongoing community outreach efforts, Jamie will soon expand and relocate his gym to the new Whole Foods anchored Cross Hill Market in Columbia, South Carolina. Through all of his efforts, Jamie is guided by his own personal philosophy that leading a life of wellness translates to a life well lived.

Aubrie Sauer

Aubrie Sauer is a Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Pilates Reformer Instructor, and Group Fitness Instructor at Jamie Scott Fitness. She has been personal training since May of 2008. Graduating from North Central College of Naperville, IL with a bachelors in Sport Management and Marketing her passion involves all aspects of the health, wellness, and fitness industry. Aubrie also trains and competes in fitness competitions across the U.S. This being a passion she trains woman across the states in proper nutrition and training to achieve the goals they desire the healthy way.

Madison Simons

Madison was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a BA in Dance Science. Her heavy involvement in dance growing up encouraged her in the direction of Pilates and fitness to help facilitate her dance training. She fell in love with Pilates just after taking her first mat class, and knew that it was something she wanted to continue and eventually share with other people. She received her classic Pilates training with a dance specialization through Body Arts and Sciences under the tutelage of Karen Clippinger.

Madison believes in the benefits of Pilates, and loves that all types of people from the novice clients to the elite athletes can do it and experience the benefits for themselves.

Nicki Wilson

Nicki played sports for fun growing up and always loved to be active. After college, she discovered that Pilates was a great complement to her cardio routines. After the birth of her first child, she decided to pursue her goal to become a fitness instructor and was certified in Pilates. She has been teaching Pilates, Core and Barre classes for the past 6 years.

Nicki believes proper form and balance are the keys to fitness. She emphasizes mixing it up with your workouts and to have a mind-body connection during exercise.

As for what to expect in her classes? She says be prepared to feel the burn in your core (and everywhere else)!

Karis Loewen

Karis Loewen is a native of Columbia SC, certified in classical Pilates and Barre. She developed a passion for overall health and fitness from an early age. In highschool she competed in high level soccer and now her athletic passion has shifted to Pilates- extensively trained and certified in Greenville SC, she is well prepared and excited to now be teaching in Columbia. She truly loves helping people transform their lives and obtain the body they have always wanted through the tried and trusted method of classical Pilates and Barre.
This month only, we will have three chances for you to try a complimentary Mat Pilates class with our in-house Pilates expert, Karis Lowen. Try this class Tuesdays at 10:30 on April 11th, 18th and 25th.
 
Pilates is a low impact exercise that produces high impact results. This class focuses on strengthening the entire body, with an emphasis on the abdominal muscles. Pilates is designed to help you lengthen and strengthen your muscles as well as improve: posture, flexibility, balance, coordination, and total mind-body connection.
 
You will learn how to engage muscles you did not even know you had and de-stress through breathing and flexibility techniques. Do not come to class thinking you won’t be pushed to work hard; you will sweat and feel a burn.  All ages and levels are welcome! Props used: mats.
