Christa Riley

Christa Riley is a certified Personal Trainer by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and Nutrition Wellness Consultant by American Fitness Professionals and Associates. A Certified Booty Barre® Plus Instructor she teaches a combination of Pilates, dance and yoga.

She earned a BA majoring in Psychology, and a Masters in Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of South Carolina.

Christa began her fitness career with The FIRM in 1992 and was in several fitness videos as well as lead roles. She continues her dedication to wellness with JSF by providing fitness and nutrition education to adults as well as children.Christa has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 13 years. Married with two children, she lives in Columbia, South Carolina. * Her goal is to educate others on the benefits of healthy living... parents setting examples for their children in an active lifestyle... for well being and fun!

 

Dale Murrie

Dale Murrie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the College of Charleston and a Master of Arts in Teaching from The Citadel. She began her fitness career with The FIRM in 1992 and was in several fitness videos as well as lead roles and also spent time as a personal trainer. Dale has worked in the Children’s Physical Activity Research Group at the University of South Carolina since 2000. The focus of their research is childhood obesity. Dale grew up being involved in swimming, cheerleading and dance and turned to The FIRM in order to continue her active lifestyle. She’s very excited to be a part of Jamie Scott Fitness as we embark on innovative new programs and classes and our move to the beautiful new facility at Cross Hill Market!

Nicki Wilson

Nicki played sports for fun growing up and always loved to be active. After college, she discovered that Pilates was a great complement to her cardio routines. After the birth of her first child, she decided to pursue her goal to become a fitness instructor and was certified in Pilates. She has been teaching Pilates, Core and Barre classes for the past 6 years.

Nicki believes proper form and balance are the keys to fitness. She emphasizes mixing it up with your workouts and to have a mind-body connection during exercise.

As for what to expect in her classes? She says be prepared to feel the burn in your core (and everywhere else)!

Jess Ruff

Jess Ruff began teaching group fitness classes in 2008 after years of being a FIRM client. She loves teaching at Jamie Scott Fitness, where she is able to constantly challenge herself as well as the clients. In addition to teaching and taking classes at Jamie Scott Fitness, she enjoys running and has completed many races, including 10 half marathons. She earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Clemson University, and a master’s degree in library and information sciences from the University of South Carolina. Jess is a National Board Certified teacher at Brennen Elementary School, where she strives to set a healthy example for her young students. In her free time she enjoys watching college football and cheering for the Clemson Tigers!

Lee Ann Bauer

Lee Ann has always had a passion for fitness. After playing basketball and running track in high school, she felt the desire to pursue her health and wellness after college. Lee Ann attended the University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After moving to Colorado after college, she realized how important it was to find what motivates her to continue her healthy lifestyle.
 
Upon her return to Columbia, she joined Jamie Scott Fitness and was instantly motivated by the high energy instructors and the realization that she was growing stronger. This drove her to follow her aspiration to become a JSF motivator. With a background in ballet, becoming a Barre instructor seemed a natural fit.
 
When Lee Ann is not teaching or at JSF, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. They enjoy time outdoors and being with family and friends.
 
Lee Ann encourages others to remember that your wellness is not limited to only going to the gym, it is also about how you fuel your body. Her advice to others is to try a variety of classes, some that may seem challenging, and you will be surprised at what you are capable of!
Ideology: Barre Focus is a fast-paced, 50-minute class designed to get your heart rate up and achieve maximum muscle toning. In class, you work your body head to toe with high-energy cardio moves followed by intense toning segments.

Equipment: Light weights, Spri Ball, Mat, and Therabands

Footwear: Socks with a grip or dance shoes
