Sophia Derrick

Sophia Derrick is a certified Personal Trainer by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and a certified Cycle Reebok Foundation Instructor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, has been employed by the South Carolina House of Representatives for over thirty years, and began teaching group fitness in 1995.

Sophia's advice on how to maintain a regular exercise program is to mark it on your calendar just like you do everything else and never ever miss three days in a row without taking a class or personal training session.

Renee Holler

Renee Holler began her fitness career with The Firm in 1994. While at The Firm she participated in several of the videos, was featured in the book “Firm for Life”, and earned her personal training certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. She has also earned her certification as a spin instructor through Cycle Reebok and continues to maintain her certification for Adult CPR. She earned a B.A. degree from Wofford College where she was a double major in Economics and Religion. Married for 27 years with three children, she not only teaches for Jamie Scott Fitness, she also works at the Holler Law Firm. Her plans for the future are to pursue not only her nutrition certification but also a ropes certification. So much of how we feel and look is not only due to exercising on a regular basis, but a result of the food and drink we put into our bodies. Educating myself about nutrition and new innovative approaches to health and fitness will hopefully accomplish what our mission statement here at JSF is…to not only encourage but empower our clients to achieve a lifetime of wellness.

Cole Fortson

Cole has lived in Columbia for the majority of his life and has always maintained an athletic background. He is currently in college at the University of South Carolina where he is working towards a degree in Hospitality. Shorty after becoming a client at Jamie Scott Fitness, Cole found himself falling in the love with the cycle program and overall atmosphere. It quickly became his goal to become a JSF cycle instructor. Cole is extremely passionate about fitness and motivating others to accomplish their fitness goals.

Lee Ann Bauer

Lee Ann has always had a passion for fitness. After playing basketball and running track in high school, she felt the desire to pursue her health and wellness after college. Lee Ann attended the University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After moving to Colorado after college, she realized how important it was to find what motivates her to continue her healthy lifestyle.
 
Upon her return to Columbia, she joined Jamie Scott Fitness and was instantly motivated by the high energy instructors and the realization that she was growing stronger. This drove her to follow her aspiration to become a JSF motivator. With a background in ballet, becoming a Barre instructor seemed a natural fit.
 
When Lee Ann is not teaching or at JSF, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. They enjoy time outdoors and being with family and friends.
 
Lee Ann encourages others to remember that your wellness is not limited to only going to the gym, it is also about how you fuel your body. Her advice to others is to try a variety of classes, some that may seem challenging, and you will be surprised at what you are capable of!

Dale Murrie

Dale Murrie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the College of Charleston and a Master of Arts in Teaching from The Citadel. She began her fitness career with The FIRM in 1992 and was in several fitness videos as well as lead roles and also spent time as a personal trainer. Dale has worked in the Children’s Physical Activity Research Group at the University of South Carolina since 2000. The focus of their research is childhood obesity. Dale grew up being involved in swimming, cheerleading and dance and turned to The FIRM in order to continue her active lifestyle. She’s very excited to be a part of Jamie Scott Fitness as we embark on innovative new programs and classes and our move to the beautiful new facility at Cross Hill Market!

Becky Craven

Becky Craven is an AFFA approved Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Certified, and Rebok Spin certified. She earned a Bachelor of the Science degree from Winthrop University where she majored in Finance. Having played collegiate volleyball, Becky has maintained the need and want to stay active and continues to teach others the necessity of physical activity throughout their lives. Becky has been in the fitness industry for over 10 years. She is also very active in the community and is a member of the Junior League of Columbia, Kiwanis, and Discovery Board for Edventure.
Want to know how hard you are really working? Come try our MyZone Heart Rate training class. With a MyZone belt, you will be able to track during class what heart rate zone you are in, how many calories you are burning and how intense your workout really is. We are the only gym in Columbia utilizing this system. Come see what MyZone is all about at JSF! And if you don't have a MyZone band yet, you are still welcome to come Cycle. But, we'll warn you, you will want a MyZone band after you take this class!
